Prince of Peace Catholic Community, along with the International Society of Wheelchair Professionals, provided 320 wheelchairs for the CRIT Center in La Paz, Mexico. There were 205 specialty wheelchairs in 8 designs, including active, cerebral palsy and special needs and 115 of the yellow standard wheelchairs. The specialty wheelchairs cost more than $150 each, but we were able to provide wheelchairs designed for the specific needs of these children.
Father Tom Cloherty, David and Nelly Carr, Dan and Monique Stoffel, Roland and Marta Tunez and Bill and Elaine Weber traveled to La Paz from September 19-22 to help distribute some of these wheelchairs. While in La Paz, 75 wheelchairs were distributed at the CRIT Center and 5 home deliveries were made.
